Gamjams Review: Bottle Cages - Specialized Rib Cage Pro Road

Guilty.

Who? Me?

Yep, totally guilty as charged. I got my bottle cages just to match my bike. You betcha. And I'm guilty because I totally forgot to post this Gamjams Review on time. Whoops.

I had Bontrager Lite bottle cages on my last bike (the plastic ones, not the pricey carbon cages). They were great. There was absolutely nothing wrong with them, although they were a bit pricier than normal, boring metal cages.

Except the blue of the Bontrager cages was a bit too dark for my S-Works Gerolsteiner team frame.

The blue didn't match the blue perfectly, so I spent some green ($16 each) on some new bottle cages. And the Specialized Rib Cage Pro a ain't cheap set.

But they work. Excellently. I haven't had to mess with them since I strapped them on. They're pretty darn cool looking and they match the Gerolsteiner blue perfectly. They look sharp. They're pretty light. They hold bottles well. Real well.

Actually, that's one of the things you have to get use to wen you first get these cages - getting the bottles in and out requires a bit more force that most other cages. Yet I've grown to like that.

The only other hindrance is that my pump clip no longer fits under the cage bolts. Oh well, I throw the in my pocket instead if I really feel that I need it to ride out in the boonies. (I always make sure that one of my riding pals has a pump, and I always have CO2 anyways.)

So that's the story. I like my Specialized cages, can't complain. Sorry if this blog was posted too late, but I totally thought today was Wednesday. Rest week, tough week at work. Totally out of it.

Coppi will be tons of fun. I hear there's a dirt strip - I hope your as confidenct with your bottle cages as I am with mine. It's gonna be a long, hot drag. Don't wanna lose your water.

No dirt at Coppi. Some rough pavement for sure, but it's paved the whole way. The hills towards the end of each lap are sure to shed some guys...
